One more Yoga blog, really?

First of all: Welcome to my Yoga blog!

If you are reading these lines, it's certainly because you are interested of Yoga, of course! However, you are certainly wondering if it's relevant to create a new Yoga blog view the number of them, very interesting, that are already existing.

That's a legitimate question. And it proves you are curious ;)

Let me answer, then.

“A Yoga blog is another way to teach yoga differently, taking the time to answer my students questions, to share what I am learning - because I am still a student, too -, and to open the conversation and the reflection.”

Keep studying Yoga

The study of Yoga is a part of a Yoga practitioner life. And by study, we talk about the physical practice but also what is happening outside of the mat.

In the ancient texts which built the Yoga philosophy, we find a lot of references about the importance of studying. In the Bhagavad Gita are mentioned the 4 paths of yoga and one of them is Jnana or Gyana Yoga which is the Yoga of the knowledge, of the intellect. Jnana Yoga is dedicated to the reading of spiritual texts, to the analysis and to the reflection.

Later Patanjali, who is considered as the father of the Yoga philosophy, talks about Svadhyaya which is the fourth Niyama. The Yamas and the Niyamas are a kind of guidelines described in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras. And Svadhyaya is the self-study.

The self-study can have two meanings: studying by our own will and studying our Self. And that's exactly the point: by studying texts or anything about Yoga, we are supposed to know ourselves better or our Self better.

Let's consider that writing a Yoga blog is only a modern way to study and to apply the fourth Niyama. Does it sound selfish? Now, that I put this blog in the Yoga tradition, I will develop the other reasons.

Another way to teach Yoga

During the past few months, I couldn't teach Yoga. And I was missing this exchange I had with my students. At the same time, it's been a while that I would like to share the other parts of Yoga and not only the physical practice. Of course, when I teach a class, I am trying to distil some philosophy, some meditation, some pranayama. However, a yoga class is too short for developing some topics which are very important for our journey.

That's why you are reading this post: this is a way to teach yoga differently, taking the time to answer my students questions, to share what I am learning - because I am still a student, too -, and to open the conversation and the reflection. And all of this, using my words and sharing my personal experience.

I would like to use this blog to explain how you can use what you are learning on your mat in your daily life, how you can apply yoga beyond the mat. Because yoga is not only a physical practice, it's a way of life or more, it's life.
